Physical Activity and Physical Education

Physical Activity is directly linked to student achievement and better health. For students to receive the nationally-recommended amount of daily physical activity (i.e., at least 60 minutes per day) and for students to fully embrace regular physical activity as a personal behavior, students need opportunities for physical activity beyond physical education class.
Below you will find physical activity related resources that have been reviewed and recommended by a State team of experts. This is not an all-inclusive list, but includes many of the best free and low-cost physical activity resources offered in Michigan and nationally. Use these resources to provide and improve physical activity opportunities and to create an implementation plan for the Physical Activity portion of your Local Wellness Policy.
