Always Integrate Health into School Policy

A local school wellness policy is a written document that guides a local educational agency (LEA) or school district’s efforts to establish a school environment that promotes students’ health, well-being, and ability to learn. This policy is the key to positive, long-lasting changes in the school environment.

Each LEA that participates in the National School Lunch Program or other federal Child Nutrition Programs is required by federal law to establish a local school wellness policy for all schools under its jurisdiction.
